Friendly Chatbot Copy for Banking Apps

Case study

Banking cover (1).png

Project Overview

I created a playful, money-savvy chatbot concept for a british banking app. The goal: show how creative copy can make finance feel friendly, useful, and even fun.

Problem

Nobody gets excited to chat with a banking bot. They’re flat, formal, and make money talk even more boring than it already is. The challenge? Write chatbot copy that actually feels human, and maybe even makes you smile.

Results

The chatbot scripts turned everyday banking tasks into approachable, friendly conversations. Balance checks became quick reassurances, budget nudges encouraged better habits without guilt, and bill reminders felt like helpful prompts instead of chores. The project shows how the right words can transform a financial app into a more engaging and human experience.

Creative process

Research, drafts and final decision

After researching the most frequently asked questions, I identified some of the main pain points for banking users: checking balances, budgeting, and paying bills.

I drafted several microcopy options for each interaction, testing different tones and approaches, before selecting the final copy that was friendly, clear, and aligned with the brand voice.

Key Takeaways

This project proved that even banking can have a friendly voice. With the right words, balance checks feel reassuring, bill reminders feel like helpful nudges, and users actually enjoy getting budget tips. I learned how small copy tweaks can turn everyday tasks into a smoother, more human experience.
